BRIEF
European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) is a species of angiosperm in the Fagaceae
family, closely related to the Oak tree. The appearance of the Beech tree is different and quite diverse
depending on the environment where it plants. Beech is a large tree species, can grow up to 49 meters
(160 ft) and up to 3 meters (10 ft) in diameter, although it is generally 25–35 meters (80–115 ft) tall
with diameter of 1.5 meters (5 ft). It has a typical lifespan of approximately 150-200 years, however, some
trees can reach 300 years old.

Beeches are widely planted and grown naturally in Central Europe,
accounting for 10 to 20% of the broad-leaved trees in the forests. This kind of tree has been used as a
material in Europe for a long time, but it is still relatively new in the Asia wood market.
There are two types of imported Beech wood: Light yellow and pastel pink.
Sapwood is a combination of white and red, the color of heartwood is from light reddish brown to dark red
brown. European Beech is more beautiful and more firm than American Beech. The wood grain is straight,
harsh, and delicate with a tight surface.

The price is much lower than other imported woods (Oak and Ash) with the
same hardness.

CONS
The resistance of Beech is feeble to termites. If you want to use it for a
long time, you need to go through the proper process of wood marinating to avoid termites.
Wood, after being imported, if not be sawed - dried soon, would be easy to
take damage.
Beech wood has great shrinkage.
Some notices when saw and dry Beechwood
Beech wood is easily harmed, so after importing this type of wood, it is
necessary to plan a sawing-drying schedule immediately.
The water content in Beech wood is pretty significant, so after sawing, it
should be put into the wood drying oven to dry soon, preferably within 12 hours. After that, it is necessary
to turn on the ventilation fan first to reduce the amount of water in the wood in about 1 day, then start
heating.
SUMMARY
Although Beech wood has some disadvantages, such as being easily damaged and requiring a quick drying time, however, if the correct process is met, Beechwood can produce good quality products that can compare to other types of wood at a lower cost.
