Pine  (scientific name:  Pinus) is a genus in the Pine family   (Pinaceae), the only genus in the  Pinoideae subfamily. There are about 115 species of Pine in the world.

The origin of Pine is in the  Northern Hemisphere and some regions in the Southern Hemisphere. Pine trees can be found in many different environments, from semi-arid deserts to rain forests, seas up to 5,200 meters, and the coldest to the hottest places on Earth. They usually appear in mountainous areas with propitious soil and little water. Pine is a fast-growing softwood that can expand on terrain densely. When the Pine leaves decompose, the acidity in these prevents the germination of competing hardwoods. The Pine trees grown in temperate climates are usually well-developed, straight-stemmed, and much higher than Pine trees in tropical conditions, which the temperate tree can reach up to 80m high.

Pine is one of the most important wood species in the global trading market because of its valuable timber and wood dust. In addition, Pine is also widely used in high-value items such as furniture, window frames, cladding, floors, and roofing.

Pine wood in the Asian countries is of poor quality, quite curved with many branches, so it is only used to make Pine wood pallets or to cut small panels to press into plywood. However, white Pine is the only exception that is considered delightful and has the highest value. Pine wood currently used in Asia is mainly imported from Nordic countries, Russia, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Post-Soviet countries.

Pine is a lightweight species (only 435kg/m3 with white Pine and 465kg/m3 with yellow Pine).

After processing, it is less affected by termites.

This type of wood has excellent machine resistance with a high screw grip. It is easy to transport, cheap, compact, and has a rustic appearance suitable for modern living spaces. Based on these advantages, it is commonly used in the woodworking industry. Significantly, the worldwide market nowadays pays much attention to self-assembled wooden furniture from Pine.

Although the wood grain is not much, it is discernible, so it creates a very high and unique aesthetic.

This type of wood is very little deformed when drying, especially when covered with varnish; the wood would become glossy, with very high aesthetics.

Pine wood is generally used in major constructions.

Pine wood has low stiffness and poor bearing capacity. It is not recommended to be used in load-bearing structures.

In terms of luxury and modernity, Pine is not on par with other types of wood.

Pine wood is porous and easy to absorb moisture, so if it is not treated carefully, the ability to withstand termites is meager.

The wood fiber is easily broken when screwed incorrectly.

Pine wood has many eyes. The dead eyes are black, making the wood surface uneven and unstable. This feature is quite favorable in foreign countries due to its natural and rustic feel, but it is not appreciated in the Asian market.
